Showdown A - Trak vs. QBert

So last night I went to the GZA show, which I can now cross off my list and another first which I can cross off is seeing an artist sign things while performing. This was a total first for me in all my years going to shows, I don't know if it was the fact GZA is a legend of hip hop and people were not sure if they would see him again but I would think you should wait till after the show. Also he was forgetting lyrics but when Talib Kweli came out wearing a VANCITY hat everyone went nuts. QBERT is playing at Gossip tomorrow for the Elements of Hip Hop, I don't think I will be seeing QBERT signing things while he is performing.

Doom - Born Like This

The new MF Doom album came out about four days ago, this track is dedicated to my two good friends. They have been together along time an have been persecuted so much for it. But I think when songs like this come out it will only make their love for each other stronger.

A-Trak Fabriclive .45

A-Trak confirms: “I mixed in some old, classic house records with some newer funk-loop house records that reference the old house records, mixed with some kooky weird Baltimore-ish club edits, mixed with some techno stuff, some slow disco and my own productions. If you see it on paper it looks like a whole mish-mash but the way I put together the mix, it somehow comes together and makes sense. I just looked at it really as a DJ mix: the way that I bring the songs in and the way that I try to put my stamp on it, rocking doubles on some of the records and doing scratch routines and adding layers on top of my edits of the songs, that's what defines its identity. I wanted to let the mix itself do the talking.”

Girl Talk Video

Professor Matthew Soar at Concordia University in Montréal, as a contribution to the Open Source Cinema Project, teamed with his students and spent what he describes as "three very intensive weeks rotoscoping a concert video" of Girl Talk. They were, he says, inspired by Bob Sabiston's digital rotoscoping (Snack and Drink, Waking Life, A Scanner Darkly), and by Christine Harold's OurSpace: Resisting the Corporate Control of Culture, a textbook used for his communications course. You can see this video and other shorts that people created in RiP a Remix Manifesto.
